Our hike on Deep Gap Trail from Mt. Mitchell summit in North Carolina. Third time we’ve hiked this trail. First time, it was hot! Last year, it was cold and foggy and we never saw a thing. This year, we started out in the chilly fog on a VERY wet trail but ended with the fog blowing away and a beautiful view! We clambered, slipped, and slid a couple miles as far as the plane wreckage, which is off trail a bit, and then returned. Very strenuous hike! | Hilary Walker Miller
